Beginning of term/ Focus on Stan Theories
Morning Lesson
We focused on a majority of stans theories including circle of attention. Magic of, thought process etc. We started with a relaxed exercise going round the room asking everyone one by one to give a brief summary of how their holiday was, who they spent time with, if they received any gifts etc. This small exercise helped everyone to practice building a narrative as talking about what they’ve previously done is almost like telling a story and encourages to focus their attention on one person in the room which prepared us for the next bigger exercise where we were going to put in practice the actual center of attention. In the actual exercise we were split into two of the and did an exercies that was beneficial to our observational skills.
Each of took turns observing one another from head to toe, for about 30 seconds and tring to remember as much as we could as possible. After the 30 seconds we had to close our eyes and tell each other what we saw on one another, remembering as much as we possibly could.
We did another exercise where the class split into two and one half had to pretend they were on a tube, however we were not allowed to interact with anybody around us and the rest of the class had to observe and give suggestions/ideas as to who they though we could possibly be or what mood we could be in. Then we swapped over and the other group had to act as if they were in a maths exam with 15 minutes left and we had to make observations about what we thought they were doing and how they are feeling.
This was the first lesson where we were introduced to the play were going to do. The Three Sisters' Anton Chekhov. We brainstormed some of Stanislavski techniques in order to implement them for our piece.
