Performance of Romeo and Juliet

Evaluation of the performance

At the start of the day we met at the Shaw theatre and we had an hour long tech run, this as including props and everyone in their full costume. We had someone from the Shakespeare School Festival Company overseeing our run through and telling us where and when to stop. After that, it was time for our dress rehearsal in front of the other school who was performing 'A midsummer's night dream', we did the same after as we had a preview of their dress rehearsal too. After that we had a break and were allowed to leave the building but were ordered to be back by 6pm so we could prepare and get our physical and vocal warm ups done. All of the four schools participated in this warm up on stage and it help everyone's enunciation/articulation skills ready fro the show and also everybody's energy back up seeing as we had just come from a long break. Were were then informed that the order of the show would be starting with 'Macbeth', then 'The tempest', an interval in between, following that 'A midsummer's Night Dream' and then at last us for 'Romeo and Juliet.  After the audience had arrived the show began at seven and for the first part of the interval we sat in the auditorium and watched all the other performances.

We as a group performed well and the play went according to plan. Everyone was sharp with their cues/costume and prop changing and no one forgot their lines. After we performed we received feedback that it was evident that we all had cent knowledge of our characters. We had a good understanding of Shakespearean language, We filled up all of the space out evenly and nicely. We managed to engage withe audience even when the scenes weren't so dramatic. We also had good projection, everyone was heard nice and clearly. We showed genuine emotion when it came to the tragic scenes.
